Propecia (finasteride) is the brand name for the medication finasteride, a synthetic form of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that is converted into testosterone by the body. It is also used to treat male pattern baldness. Propecia is used to treat male pattern baldness, an enlarged prostate, as well as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Propecia is available in two forms:
